Michael Aldag
I am a fine artist from southern Illinois. I draw inspiration for my work from my environment, childhood, and Christian faith. Art for me is not only a means of self-expression, but self-reflection. The media and subject matter vary, however one thing is consistent; a sense of sobriety. This tone is ever-present in the world and it pervades my art.
Currently I am working on a photography series, entitled, "Temple." This series portrays buildings that once housed Churches. I see these structures as metaphors for the Spiritual life. These photographs serve as holy reminders to Christians to always make sure our temples stay occupied: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
